While these words jarred me at first,
I've come to appreciate them more and more
each time I sit with them.
Believe me when I say, I would never have thought
of whispering prayers, or wishes, or imaginings
to mud.
However, the more I learn about the understory,
the more fascinating and fecund it becomes.
It's something that repels and compels simultaneously.
Intricate happenings occur.
Happenings any human could consider
worthy of high respect and attention.
